Restored in the 2007, made 3 farmhouses, converted into 8 attractive apartments.
Located in a natural amphitheatre framed by age-old woodland that shields it against the wind in winter and against the heat in summer.
The climate is ideal, and peace and quiet reign supreme.
The owners, Lucia and Roberto, two antiques specialists who have for years been restoring and furnishing farmhouses, took their cue from typical Tuscan country architecture when salvaging the remains of an 18th-century mill and decided to use materials complying with the criteria of organic architecture to achieve healthy, well-finished, harmonious interiors.
The Komplex
It’s small hamlet that is part of the village of Sassetta, surrounded by an age-old wood of turkey oaks, chestnut and holme-oak trees that was designed and built by the owners, Lucia and Roberto who also run it.
It is quiet and peaceful throughout and the atmosphere is made even more special by the care and attention paid to even the smallest detail.
Guests will find spacious apartments furnished with exquisite taste and provided with all modern comforts.
Each unit also has a shaded area for a car, a private garden and a portico. The communal area includes a swimming pool for adults only, a smaller one for children as well as sun-beds and deckchairs for the use of all guests.
There is a children’s corner built in the shade of a thicket, complete with crayons, traditional games and hammocks so that when swimming is out, the kids have something creative to do.
A small office near the pool is the place to go for ideas on how to spend the day, news on local events and exhibitions and help with itineraries and restaurant bookings.
The farmhouse is within easy reach of Tuscany’s major art cities not to mention the beaches at Baratti, San Vincenzo, Bibbona & Marina di Castagnetto – so in either case, being part of the area’s cultural and social life could not be easier.
It is only a short walk to “La Ceretta”, a bio-dynamic farm with stables that offers riding lessons as well as the chance to see the wonderful countryside on horseback.
It’s a holiday immersed in nature and surrounded by beauty; time to slow right down and rediscover the joy of not having to rush.
Apartments
The apartments are built out of special petrified wood blocks that make for excellent heat and sound insulation and do away with the need for air-conditioning; lime coloured with natural pigments has been used to plaster and distemper the walls, and the hand-crafted terracotta floors have been treated with citrus oil and milk.
All the apartments are equipped with satellite television, DVD player, stereo, hairdryer, independent central heating and a table and chairs for outdoor eating.
TORRETTA
La Torretta (sleeps 4-6) is an apartment measuring 100m2 and comprising a kitchen, dining room with fireplace, two bedrooms with king-size beds, two bathrooms and a large sitting room with a double sofa bed.
There is a large garden outside with a gazebo for outdoor eating and a patio overlooking the swimming pool.
Ideal for four people seeking comfort and privacy or for families with children.
The apartment is equipped with satellite television, DVD player, stereo, dishwasher, fireplace, hairdryer, independent central heating and a table and chairs for outdoor eating.
SAN MICHELE e LE GINESTRE
San Michele, le Ginestre (both sleep 2-4) are twin apartments making up one of the farm houses.
They each measure 70 m2 and have a living room with kitchen area and fireplace, a bedroom with king-size bed, a bathroom and a sunny area under the eaves for use as a second bedroom or as a sitting room.
There is a portico outside with a sofa and armchairs and a large garden for the exclusive use of the apartments’ guests, with a dining table. Ideal for romantic couples or families with children.
Both apartments feature a fireplace and are equipped with a dishwasher.
IL LECCIO - ( Small Dogs )
Il Leccio (sleeps 2-4) comprises a living room with kitchen area, a double bedroom, a bathroom and a second bedroom under the eaves with large twin beds.
There is a private garden surrounding the house on three sides, with a table for outdoor eating. This apartment is furnished in modern style with designer furniture and accessories.
OPEN SPACE
Open space (sleeps 2-4) is a large basement measuring approximately 100 m2 and comprising a living room with a kitchen area, a bathroom and a spacious bedroom.
There is a private garden outside with deckchairs and sunshade. For a couple or a family with small children.
Services
It is not far from the village of Sassetta and is only 15km away from the beaches at Marina di Castagneto and San Vincenzo – which makes it the perfect place for those who like to spend their holiday surrounded by nature and within easy reach of the sea.
Food and wine plays an important role here too – with good quality wines like Sassicaia and Ornellaia and typical dishes based on wild boar, mushrooms and chestnuts.
The complex comprises eight apartments, each with its own shaded car park and private garden.
There are two pools in the shared garden area, the larger one for adult use and a smaller one for children, sun beds and deckchairs are also available.
Young guests will enjoy the play area, shaded by a nearby thicket, where they will find hammocks, crayons and games.
The nearby office can provide information on the area, cultural events, advice about unusual places to visit and assistance making reservations for select restaurants and visits to prestigious wineries.
It also rents out bikes and can arrange horse riding trips and lessons in nearby stables.
The nearby, organic Cerreta Estate sells home produced items such as wine, oil, cold cuts, cheeses, honey and jams and it is also possible to dine there and sample typical dishes that are part of the farm workers’ tradition.
